World Cup Tennis Tournament 2017

After a few days of heavy rain the sun returned for Sunday’s World Cup Tennis Tournament.

Played in beautiful conditions, the four teams: England, Celtic, Europe and the Rest of the World battled their way through 4 rounds of fun and competitive tennis.

The early favourites – the Rest of the World team – couldn’t keep pace with England who were defending their title following last year’s victory.

When the last round was completed it was clear that England were the comfortable winners.

The final scores were:
England – 66
Rest of the World – 54
Celtic – 45
Europe – 43

Congratulations to team members Martin Godbold, Janet Crook (substituted for Sue Rocca), Mark Sharma-Drake, Jill Stanton, Gary Clements and Dan Godbold.

Many thanks to Keith Lester and Kevin Uwins for organising the event. After costs, £40 was raised which will go to our Charity of the Year: the Dan Maskell Tennis Trust.
