The 4th team had their work cut out when pitched against Surbiton at Ashford in March. Surbiton's 1st pair looked very handy and came out all guns blazing. Nigel Harris and Jon Bell fought hard and it was very close, but as luck would have it Surbiton won both sets on the tie break. Meanwhile Howard James and Colin Reeve fought hard against Surbiton's 2nd and won on a championship tie break, 13 – 11.

The 2nd match was equally close but this time Nigel and Jon won both their sets and Howard and Colin beat Surbiton's 1st again on the championship tie break. With many deuces, 2 tie breaks and 2 championship tie breaks, the play was close and lasted just over 4 hours, so everyone was pretty tired by the end. Ashford won by 6 sets to 4 and everyone felt they had achieved a well deserved victory.

On 30th January the men's 4th team went over to Kingston on a breezy Sunday morning for a match against Coombe Wood. The sun came out and the breeze died down to provide some good conditions for tennis.

Playing on the short astro turf a very competitive match took place which was drawn 2 - 2. The first round matches saw our number 1 pair Michael and Nigel Harris loosing 6-1 6-4. Our number 2 pair Craig Bolshaw and Kevin Unwins won 6-4 6-7 10-8. (phew). Second round matches saw Michael any Nigel winning 6-4 6-1. Craig and Kevin lost 6-4 6-1 10-6. So it's so good so far. Unbeaten after 3 rounds of the Winter league.

February sees the final two matches of the league a rearranged home match against Surbiton and an away match against Epsom.

 The 4th team had a successfull start the winter league with a 3 - 1
win away at Ebbisham (3rds)

On a beautiful autumn afternoon Nigel Harris and Jon Bell won their
first match 7-6 6-0. The first set was a close, long and tense affair
but once it was won the second followed quickly. Craig Bolshaw and
Howard James won their first match 6-4 6-2.

After a very quick turnarround, for Nigel and Jon, their second match
began which they unfortunatley  lost 6-0 6-4. Craig and Howard won
their second match 6-1 7-5, with a close ending.

The teams were well matched and the tennis was competative and good.
The matches were played with a good spirit.
