Several one day tournaments are arranged which are always light-hearted and good fun.

The club organises a Tennis based week in Lanzarote each January. A weekend at the Manor House Hotel in Devon has also become a regular addition to the social calendar.

Children in Need Games Night review Print E-mail

The Children in Need Games Night was once again well supported. We were able to beat last years total, bringing in £420.00 for 2011.

Thank you to everyone who was able to enter a team or join a team to make up the numbers, in the end we had 10 teams. It was also the closest run games night we've had because up to the last game 4 teams could have won and in fact we had two teams total the same amount of points on the final bell ring so for the first time ever, we had a tie break of KILLER POOL !! It was finally won by Janet Crook and Raji & Mark Sharma-Drake - well done guys.

At the end of the evening I still managed to have a voice to call the Raffle and I'm sure nearly everyone won something.

A big thanks for the raffle donations from Steve, Mel and Anne and of course the Games Night main prize from WB SPORTS.

We must also remember to give a very big thanks to everyone's generosity who bought a raffle ticket or just joined in.

I'd also like to thank Ian Mc, Pat, Len & Mary and most definitely the Bar Staff.

Till next year – Keith Lester

24 hour Tennis Marathon Update Print E-mail
Monday, 04 July 2011 10:06

Firstly I just wanted to thank all of those that either participated or took the time to support us during last week's tennis marathon, it really did mean a great deal and your support gave me a massive boost that really pulled me through the final hours on Sunday.

There are some people that I think should get a special mention for all of the support they gave to me, not just on the day but throughout the last 3-4 months that we have been planning the marathon;

So Special Thanks go to

  • Keith Lester
  • Jeff Howe
  • Ian Mcilrath
  • Elias Mattar
  • Len Claremont
  • Ian Matholie
  • All of the guys from Team 5
  • and not to forget Pat and Tracey behind the bar!!

I also would like to thank The Shooting Star Childerens Hospice who provided Banners, T-Shirts, Balloons and Running Vests for us to use during the day.

With the Final Total rising on a daily basis and ammounts still to be confirmned by Pat and Tracy for the money raised within the bar, I am hoping to have raised close to £1500. The current total stands at £1100!!!

Having initially set a target for us to raise £500, I am sure you can imagine the I am extremelly pleased, not to mention proud of the support the The club as a whole have given us throughout our fundraising campaign which has heled us reach this fantastic total.

I will be making myself busy over the next few weeks, so that we can collect the money from all those kind enough to have already donated, so keep an eye out for me at Social over the coming weeks..

Once again Thank-you for all your support.

Matt Hollister

A 24 hour Tennis marathon is to take place at the club in June with all money being donated to the children's charity The Shooting Star Hospice.

The event begins at 3.30pm on Saturday 25th June during Wimbledon fortnight and is being organised by the Men's 5th team at the club with Matt Hollister and Keith Lester being the main participants.

Throughout the 24 hrs, members of the club have already signed up for hourly slots to join in the doubles play with the pair. There are still some slots available and if you are able to spare an hour or so for a very good cause then please contact Matt on 07834 772417 or via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . A timetable will also be put up on the club house noticeboard for everyone to check for updates.

On the Saturday evening, a band has been booked to play in the clubhouse to provide entertainment with a late bar so come and make a night of it while supporting the players!

Of course the main purpose of the event is to raise money and a page has been set up at the Just Giving website for members, friends and family to make a donation.

Thank you in advance for your support!
