If you thought ladies didn't have to contend with wind then think again! The ladies 2nd team battled valiantly against great swirling gusts of it, and against their opponents - Reigate III - on 30th May, but the weather - and Reigate - came off best and Ashford lost overwhelmingly.
Sandra and Cathy fought hard in two close tie-break sets which would have made it not quite so disastrous, but it wasn't Ashford's day and Mary and Sue couldn't find a way to win any sets either.
So it was summed up as being one of those matches rather to be forgotten and the only saving grace was that it didn't rain!
The French Open later in the day provided us with some inspiration as to how the game should be played (although not by Andy Murray!).
The outcome of the match was a resounding win for Reigate by 8 sets to 0. Let's hope we can do better when we play Reigate IV who are in the same division.
