A very close game for both couples, with a good result in gaining a draw overall.  The opposition had good slice shots which were an advantage on the shale courts.  Cathy and Kathryn played a good tie break to edge ahead and take the tie against the 2nd couple. Unfortunately in the second match, against the first couple, the second set ran away after a close first set.

 

For Jill and Susan, the 1st couple were very strong in the first set and their slices were extremely effective on the shale.  However, second set was much closer.  A much better start in the second game gave an easy first set.  It was close in the second and Jill and Susan just couldn;t hold on to take the set b- so it went to a very close tie break, with Jill and Susan just getting the vital last point to win 10-8.
