Play by dates
Matches for each round must be played by the dates indicated, WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
It is the responsibility of all players to ensure the match is played by this date.
If the scores for a match have not been recorded on the notice board by the displayed ‘play by’ date, the result will be decided by the tournament committee.
In case of difficulties arranging a match, please speak to a member of the tournament committee to advise them of the situation, prior to the play by date.
Agreed starting times
If a player arrives over ½ an hour late, your opponent(s) may claim the first set, and after 1 hour they may claim the match.
If you are unable to make the agreed start time, for any reason, you must let your opponent(s) know as soon as possible, prior to the agreed time. Failure to do so could result in you forfeiting the match. Subsequent rearrangements are subject to your opponents availability, and must still adhere to the play by date.
Booking Courts
Check the court timetable, and use the court booking sheets located in the clubhouse to book courts for tournament matches.
Format of Matches
Matches in the initial rounds will be the best of three sets, with a tiebreak at 6-6 operating in the first two sets, and a long third set.
The Finals will consist of two sets with a tiebreak at 6-6, followed by a championship tie-break (first to 10 points) in place of a third set, if necessary.
If a player arrives over ½ an hour late for a final, they will immediately forfeit the match.
Court Surface
Open tournament matches are to be played on the HARD courts where possible.
Vets tournament matches are to be played on the SHALE courts where possible.
The decision of the tournament committee is final.
Anyone who does not follow these rules is liable to be scratched without warning.
