Juniors

Ashford Tennis Club are proud to report that Will Montague and Graziella Barrett both aged 11 who train and play at the Club, reached the Surrey County Junior U12's Boys and Girls Singles Finals that was held at The National Tennis Centre, Roehampton on Sunday 10th July 2011. They both experienced some tough matches to reach the Finals, playing and seeing off opponents from clubs such as Byfleet, Woking and Horsley. It was second time round for Will as he reached the Finals last year and congratulatons to him as this year he won! Graziella (with this being her first year of entry) was runner-up.

Watch out for these two young stars rising through the ranks of our Club!

Also well done to the 3 junior teams that won their division in the AEGON Team Tennis this year.

Adults

This year head coach Steve Savage reached the quarter finals at the over 35 singles at Wimbledon before having to pull out. At this tournament he beat 2 seeds who are in the world top 100 (one was 34 in the world the previous year), both of the seeds that he beat were played on the show court 18 (same as the Mahut and Issner match, but not as long!).

Then Steve reached the last 16 at Eastbourne ITF losing to the eventual winner. He then won an ITF singles title at Gerrards Cross. Then he reached the semi finals losing to the eventual winner at another ITF tournament, but he won the doubles title.

Steve is currently 89 in the world at over 35's and No.1 in Middlesex.

Congratulations also to club member Howard James who won the British Telecom London singles title which to place at Dukes Meadow. This tournament was only open to people who work at the company.
